These prints are the result of a print workshop held at Peppimenarti in November 2009 and led by Basil Hall and Nena Zanos. The focus of the workshop was the Ngan’gi women’s weaving traditions. Each artist chose a stitch or style to reproduce on the etching plate. Miniature warrgardi (dilly bags) were woven and worked into collagraphs, resulting in a fusion of two and three-dimensional representations of the weave. The prints were another way for the artists to engage with their woven practice, past and present.
