Glen Namundja is a passionate artist who draws on great cultural integrity for inspiration in his work. He has a large repertoire and his works can reveal a simple but beautiful aesthetic.
He can also produce extraordinarily intense works, such as those depicting the creator spirit, Ngalyod intertwined in a billabong scene. These pieces utilize complex overlays and an extensive rarrk (cross hatching) technique which challenge the casual observer’s eye to follow the image across the medium.
Glen’s language is Kunwinjku and he lives and works in western Arnhem Land. He works primarily in ochres on bark or paper, and his paintings have been featured in the Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards and in numerous exhibitions in Australia and Europe.
