Artwork Story
Phillip was born in Adelaide S.A. He is the oldest of four brothers, three of them are artists. He is the son of Benigna Ngulfundi, one of our most renowned artists here at Merrepen Arts. He started to paint from a very early age inspired by his mother and his aunties.
He has been moving around a lot living in Peppimenarti and Darwin and attending three different high schools: Kormilda, St. Johns and Yirara Colleges. He really enjoyed his time at Kormilda where he spent most his time in the art room. He has also studied at Bachelor College where he finished art classes and a business, office, administration course. Now he is settled in Daly River happy to be in the place he calls home. He has developed immensely as an artist the last years developing his own distinct style. His designs vary from colourful bush tucker depictions to clean and beautiful black and white designs. Phillip is currently working as a Trainee Aboriginal Health Worker. When not working Phillip will produce outstanding and detailed art pieces whenever possible.
