Artwork Story

Christina Yambeing was born at the old Daly River Hospital in the Daly River Mission. She received her early education at the Mission School and went onto Kormilda College in Darwin before she began training as a teacher.

Yambeing is the mother of three boys and two girls. Her themes are religious and also of bush tucker found around the Daly River. Yambeing has gone onto develop a different style of painting which was a big step for her. Her venture into the environmental painting is a breakaway from her usual style of painting which stands on its own as unique.

Yambeing is also a director of Merrepen Arts, Culture and Language Aboriginal Corporation which owns and operates the Merrepen Arts Gallery. She works on her paintings at the art gallery where she is employed.
