Artwork Story

This work is an etching, monoprint on two panels of BFK cotton rag paper.

 

Anne McMasters’ images portray natural habitats of the Tiwi Islands including coastal mangroves and coral. Other elements that influence her work are the changing nature of the seasons, the beautiful Island light and the contemporary culture of AFL football.

 

Her Tiwi Island studio and the greater landscape of the islands remains a source of inspiration while maintaining her part time teaching position at Tiwi College, a remote boarding school on Melville Island where she has lived for five years. These works were created in early 2019 as Anne prepares her departure from Melville Island after many years.
