Bronwyn Wright is an artist and photographer who has a long association with ‘The Swamp’, a tidal area on the outskirts of Darwin. Bronwyn visits the swamp every day documenting the progression of rusted cars that are dumped on the site and lay weathering in the tropical environment.
Bronwyn has lived in the Northern Territory for twenty years and was lecturer and course coordinator in Graphic Design in the School of Creative Arts & Humanities at Charles Darwin University from 2000 – 2006.
Bronwyn has exhibited regularly in Darwin including Contemporary Territory 2001-2002 at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory; Swamp Dynamics a solo exhibition at 24HR Art Contemporary Arts Space 2001; Don’t Cry East Timor at Framed Gallery in Darwin and many group shows at 24 Hr Art and the Darwin Visual Arts Association over eleven years.
In 2003 Bronwyn won first prize in the ENERGEX Arbour Contemporary Art Prize. In 2004 she exhibited ‘Swamp’ images in the Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art and her ‘Kid’s Kulture Combo’ series plus three videos were exhibited as part of the Suburban Edge exhibition at The Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney the same year.
In May 2004 she exhibited a body of work titled ‘Vanitas’ at the Charles Darwin University. And in 2006 exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Brisbane.
