Raja Robert Koroh comes from the Amarasi Dynasty, an independent royal family from the Region of Amarasi in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara Province (West Timor). His father and grandfather were influential politicians. His father played a big role in the independence process of Indonesia from the Dutch in 1949.
Robert Koroh has also been involved in local politics, but now represent the needs of the people of Baun by promoting the textiles of the region and protecting intellectual property rights with respect to traditional motifs, contemporary expression of traditional dance and song, fair trade and sustainability.
His mother is internationally known as connoisseur of local weaving techniques and patterns and lives in the family palace in Baun.
