Artwork Story

Alice Nampitjinpa was born in 1943 near Talaalpi, east of Walungurru (Kintore) near the border of Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Her father, the late Uta Uta Jangala, was one of the founding artists of the Papunya Tula art movement in the 1970s.

In her recent body of work, Alice Nampitjinpa paints sandhills, or Tali Tali, which she depicts with energetic brushstrokes and a bold palette, demonstrating a keen eye for colour and composition.

Her work features in important collections and major institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney and Aboriginal Art Museum in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
