Amarasi cloths feature one of the basic design elements of Atoin meto textiles, the hook, kait (D). This print features the inner and outer portions of the lozenge, diamond shape of many Amarasi textile motifs. Using the kait motif, this one basic motif has endless permeations in Atoin meto textiles. The kait is ubiquitous in West Timorese textile motifs and is considered by some Atoin meto people to represent the joining together of arms in traditional dances; a symbol of community and unity.
