Artwork Story

The community of Ampilatwatja made a conscious decision not to paint altyerr dreaming stories. The artists paint their country where those stories sit.

Sugarbag is the name used for both the honey made by the native bees and also for the sweet nectar that comes from the big yellow flowers of the tarrkarr trees.

Rosie likes to go and gather the delicious Sugarbag with family out in the ‘sandy country’ around Ampilatwatja.
