Artwork Story

Rose Clifton has been painting at Warmun Art Centre since June 2007. She lives at nearby Frog Hollow with her husband Francis Mung and three daughters; two sons live and study in Broome. Clifton learned to paint in college, stopped for a while then started at the suggestion of her mother’s uncle, Jirrawun painter Paddy Bedford. She paints stories told to her by her mother – stories of Dreamtime places and her grandfather’s country. At her first exhibition – the inaugural 2007 Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair – Clifton’s paintings were widely acclaimed.
