TThis is the story for the Ngintaka man (perentie). He stole the Tjiwa (a flat rock used as a grinding stone) from people living to the east. The people would grind the wild grass seeds into a flour on this stone. Mai wirunya (really good food). Ngalkuna tjana pukulpa nyinapayi (they were happy to be eating this bush tucker) and this grinding stone made the food really tasty. One day the Ngintaka went out hunting with Ngintari Wati tjuta (lizard men), but deliberately hurt his foot. He snuck back to camp and stole the stone while all the men were away. He hid the stone in his tail and travelled back to his home in Western Australia. All the people chased the Ngintaka. They cut him up and found the stone hidden in his tail. © Tjungu Palya Art Centre 2009
