Laklak was brought up at her homeland at Rorruwuy on Arnhem Bay. Today she lives at Bowaka at the heads to Port Bradshaw on her husbands (Gumatj) land and is principle of the Bowaka school. She is director of Bowaka Cultural Tours on her homeland and is co- author of the traditional basket weaving handbook ‘Weaving lives together at Bowaka”.
