Artwork Story

Larry Gundora is one of Wirrimanu’s most senior law men. He is strong within traditional knowledge referencing his country, dreamings and the ways of nature. Over the time, Larry has shared much of his knowledge with different people, both Kartija (white people) and his community. In the past much of Larry’s painting work has been created using the ochre’s that are found within this area. However, in 2012-2013 he has begun to transform his knowledge into the art of print. Being one of the men who worked within Japanese Woodblock carving, his work effortlessly integrates the traditions of carving, his knowledge of the land and that of his own culture into a new art form. His artwork is as detailed and textured as is his own character.
