This Jukurrpa belongs to Napaljarri and Nungarrayi karnta (women). The country associated with this story is Yanjirlpiri, west of Yuendumu. Ngalyipi is Snake Vine,(Tinospora smilacina). Traditionally it was used as a strap to carry parraja (coolamon / wooden food carrying dishes), or as a cure for headaches (it was wrapped very tightly around the head). In the print the ‘U’ shape represents a Napaljarri or Nungarrayi.
