‘This caterpillar dearming belongs to my brother and myself. The catapillars have made many tracks going from one tree to another where they ahve lived. This dreaming is at Nyurtipatu where the kangaroos were feeding on little black seeds. The caterpillars travelled to Nyurtipatu in a straight line helping carry each other on their back’.
Lorna Fencer was a senior artist from Lajamanu in central Northern Territory. She was a skilled painter of decorative body designs for ceremonies and traditionally painted on coolamons and digging sticks for ceremonial purposes. Lorna has been making art in the Western form since 1986. Vivid colour and liberal use of paint are signaures of her work.
